The keyed through half dovetail is a very strong, removable joint that resembles a through mortise and tenon. The difference here is the mortise has an angled top and bottom, making it parallelogram-shaped. The tenon has a half dovetail cut into one edge, and rests on the bottom of the mortise while a wedge is hammered into the gap at the top. This holds the joint very securely in place without any glue, and it can be reversed by tapping out the wedge.
